Training

Learning and development

Adult volunteers in Scouting have access to specific training to help them undertake their roles. Depending on role, training can include:

  • Initial “Getting Started” training, which includes:
    • essential information about Scouting
    • our 3-yearly repeated safety and safeguarding training
    • initial role training for section leaders, managers or trustees
  • First Aid training
  • Training for running one of our sections (SquirrelsBeaversCubsScouts and Explorers)
  • Training for managing and supporting our volunteers
  • Specialist training for running residential activities and adventurous activities

Most of our training is provided through Merseyside County Scouts.

In addition to the Scout Association’s formal training scheme, practical training and advice is provided in-house within the Scout Group and Explorer Scout Unit.
